Since he barely spoke any English due to his upbringing in Brazil, Costa was unaware that he was falling into a trap. His Chelsea teammates actually told him the word for 'sorry' was 'c***".
During one of his early games as a Blues player, Costa immediately started a spat with the referee. As he was walking away from the official he whispered the word c***. Costa was asked by the ref to repeat what he said and without any idea of what he was saying, he repeated the word.
The referee was shocked by his reaction and had to call Terry to explain to Costa the proper word for sorry. Terry told the ref that it was indeed a prank and started laughing. However, the referee was in no mood for humour and warned that he would dismiss Costa for a foul and abusive language.
Costa had an impressive career as a Blue, scoring 59 goals in 120 appearances.
