SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health reported 351 new cases, 4 new deaths, and 19,910 new vaccinations for COVID-19 in Utah on Saturday.
The rolling seven-day average for positive cases in the state is now at 331, up from 324 on Friday.
The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity as calculated by the "people over people" method is 8.9%. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity as calculated by the "tests over tests" method is 5.95%. Since Friday, 3,831 people tested and 6,807 tests were added to the state's totals.
Currently, 201 people in Utah are hospitalized with COVID-19, bringing total hospitalizations since the pandemic began to 17,418.
Four additional people have died because of their infections with COVID-19. Three of these deaths occurred prior to Saturday, the health department said. The deaths include:
- A Cache County man older than age 85 who was a long-term care facility resident
- A Utah County man between the ages of 65 and 84 who was not hospitalized at his time of death
- A Salt Lake County woman between the ages of 65 and 85 who was a long-term care facility resident
- A Salt Lake County woman between the ages of 15 and 24. It is unknown if she was hospitalized at her time of death.
Since the pandemic began, 2,351 people in Utah have died from COVID-19.
A cumulative total of 413,668 people in Utah have tested positive for COVID-19, with 2,782,297 people tested and 5,083,161 tests conducted. A total of 2,838,187 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.
Earlier this week, the Utah Department of Health released data that 85% of new COVID-19 infections and deaths are among the unvaccinated, and the rate of new vaccinations is slowly rising. Breakthrough cases are rising, but not as quickly as other cases. Only 0.1% of vaccinated Utahns have caught COVID-19.
Beginning the weekend of the 4th of July, Utah will only publish daily COVID-19 case counts on weekdays.
