SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health on Sunday reported 13 more deaths and 389 new COVID-19 cases.
Utah’s COVID-19 case rates continue to decline in the ongoing race to outpace variants of COVID-19 as they spread across the country as more Utahns continue to be vaccinated agains the highly contagious disease.
The total number of positive cases that have been detected in Utah since the beginning of the pandemic is 384,562. There have been more than 30 million COVID-19 cases and 546,144 COVID-19 deaths across the country in the same time frame, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In total, Utah has so far seen 2,114 deaths. Of the 13 deaths reported Sunday, nine occurred before March 1, according to the Utah Department of Health.
Those deaths include:
- A Tooele County woman, older than 85, who was a long-term care facility resident.
- A Cache County man, between the ages of 65 and 84, who was a long-term care facility resident.
- A Utah County woman, older than 85, who was not hospitalized at time of death.
- A Sevier County woman between the ages of 65 and 84, who was hospitalized at time of death.
- A Box Elder County man, older than 85, who was not hospitalized at time of death.
- A Box Elder man, between the ages of 65 and 84, who was hospitalized at time of death.
- A Davis County woman, between the ages of 65 and 84, who was a long-term care facility resident.
- A Utah County man, between the ages of 45 and 64, who was hospitalized at time of death.
- A Weber County woman, older than 85, who was not hospitalized at time of death.
- A Weber County man, between the ages of 45 and 64, who was hospitalized at time of death.
- A Salt Lake County man, between the ages of 65 and 84, who was a long-term care facility resident.
- A Utah County man, older than 85, who was a long-term care facility resident.
- A Box Elder woman, older than 85, who was a long-term care facility resident.
As of Sunday, 142 people were hospitalized with COVID-19, according to the health department, about 15 fewer than reported one week ago. Total hospitalizations since the beginning of the pandemic are 15,462.
So far, over 1.3 million total vaccines have been administered in Utah, which is 14,628 more than reported Saturday, according to the health department.
Utah has tested over 2.37 million people for COVID-19, an increase of 4,704 since Saturday. The rolling seven-day average of positive tests is 422 per day, down from 466 one week ago.
