We're learning more about the disciplinary record of a Buffalo police officer caught on camera using a vulgar word toward a woman.
The woman was recording a large police presence for what Lt. Michael DeLong told her was a man on drugs who had assaulted his mother.
After a request through the Freedom of Information Law, Spectrum News has learned that Lt. DeLong has had dozens of complaints lodged against him by either the community or department since 2001.
Many relate to the use of force.
In most cases, there wasn't enough evidence to make any determination.
But there are four that resulted in him being suspended without pay.
In 2008, he was suspended without pay for two days for use of force.
In 2014, it was one day for off duty conduct.
There was another day for procedures in 2017.
DeLong was also suspended without pay for 30 days for an off-duty domestic incident in 2018.
That was the last complaint on his record.
He is currently suspended without pay during an internal affairs investigation of the latest incident.
