Mithin Chakraborty has finally broken his silence about people calling his film, 'The Kashmir Files' 'Vulgar' and a 'propaganda'. The film recently got shortlisted at the Oscars 2023.
Talking to Times Now, Mithun said, "It feels great that Kashmir files have been shortlisted . It’s an answer to all the critiques. The jury who called the movie vulgar and propaganda have gotten the answer today. The people have liked the move and that’s the response."
Elaborating further, the veteran actor added, "I will not give any controversial statement. It hurts when the movie isn’t allowed in a certain theatre but gets shortlisted for an Oscar. Indian films have come a long way and I wish other shortlisted movies all the best."
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the list of feature films that are eligible for the 95th Oscars. Apart from 'Me Vasantrao', other Indian films that have cut include 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', 'RRR', 'The Kashmir Files' and 'Kantara'. The list also includes the Gujarati film 'Chhello Show', which is India's official entry to the Oscars this year, 'Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi', 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect', 'Iravin Nizhal' and 'Vikrant Rona'.
Director Vivek Agnihotri took to his Twitter handle to announce that his film, 'The Kashmir Files' has been shortlisted by the Academy for Oscars 2023. He also further informed fans that the cast has also been shortlisted in the best actor categories.
'The Kashmir Files' also starred Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles. The film did record-breaking business at the box office.
