Why create a program that will help people when you can repeat a condescending slogan against the president.
Bill Posey (R-FL) ended a House floor speech with a fist pump and the phrase “Let’s Go Brandon”; Jeff Duncan (R-SC) wore a “Let’s Go Brandon” face mask at the Capitol; Cruz (R-TX) posed with a “Let’s Go Brandon” sign at the World Series; Greene (R-GA) hung a poster on the wall outside her congressional office.
The phrase has become conservative code for pointed vulgarity: “F— Joe Biden”. It’s all the rage among Republicans: it’s also demeaning for those who see using it as a badge of honor.
I’d thought about writing a letter by picking 80 Republicans: politicians, cabinet members, and assorted right-wing mud-slingers, attaching “Let’s Go” to each of their last names – nah, cute but no cigar. Why play their game – besides I like “Moscow Mitch” – reminds people how much money Russian oligarchs have contributed to help keep him in power; or “Cancun Cruz”, who ran away from his constituents when they lost power in the dead of winter – my problem isn’t that he left but rather that he came back.
So while Democrats develop programs to improve the well-being of Americans, Republicans engage in childish behavior that fails to bring their “enemy” down to their level.
To borrow from Bob Dylan: “While one who sings with his tongue on fire,
Cares not to come up any higher, But rather get you down in the hole, That he’s in.”
