WELLS COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) - Students who draped an obscenity-laced political banner on lockers at Norwell High School have been disciplined for that action, the district superintendent tells ABC21.

The incident involved the display of a profane message targeting President Joe Biden.

Northern Wells Community Schools Superintendent Mike Springer confirmed that the banner was placed on a bank of school lockers "for a few seconds" -- something witnessed in person by about 9 or 10 other students, but then also posted to social media.

Springer said that he was not aware of any other rationale for the behavior, and that school administrators were quick to respond.

"(T)he students involved received a disciplinary consequence in accordance to the student handbook," Springer said. "There is no tolerance for behavior like this within our schools."

Springer said he was made aware of the incident on Tuesday.
