The Oregon Health Authority on Tuesday announced 567 new confirmed and presumed coronavirus infections and five new deaths, with active hospitalizations nearing 200 statewide -- among the clearest measures of the growing impact of Oregon’s putative fourth wave.
The vaccination drive, meanwhile, will likely take at least temporary hit: The state declared a hiatus on administering Johnson & Johnson vaccines as federal officials investigate six cases of severe blood clotting, out of 7 million people who have received a dose.

Vaccines: Oregon reported 29,935 newly administered doses, which includes 19,831 Monday and the remainder from previous days.
Where the new cases are by county: Baker (5), Benton (17), Clackamas (51), Clatsop (3), Columbia (6), Coos (12), Crook (7), Curry (7), Deschutes (34), Douglas (10), Grant (5), Harney (3), Hood River (8), Jackson (53), Jefferson (1), Josephine (7), Klamath (24), Lake (3), Lane (39), Lincoln (9), Linn (16), Malheur (5), Marion (35), Multnomah (83), Polk (6), Tillamook (2), Umatilla (11), Union (1), Wasco (3), Washington (95) and Yamhill (6).
Deaths: Oregon’s 2,442nd death connected to the coronavirus is a 72-year-old Clackamas County woman who tested positive Dec. 11 and died Dec. 27 at Providence Portland Medical Center.
Oregon’s 2,443rd death is an 80-year-old Linn County woman who tested positive Dec. 25 and died Jan. 14 at Santiam Hospital.
Oregon’s 2,444th death is a 91-year-old Marion County woman who tested positive April 8 and died April 7 at her residence.
Oregon’s 2,445th death is a 93-year-old Multnomah County man who tested positive Jan. 5 and died Feb. 19 at Adventist Medical Center.
Oregon’s 2,446th death is a 64-year-old Coos County woman who tested positive March 15 and died April 11 at Bay Area Hospital.
Each person had underlying health conditions or state officials were working to determine if the person had underlying medical conditions.
Hospitalizations: 197 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are hospitalized, including 48 who are in intensive care. That’s the 20 more hospitalized patients than Monday and four more patients who are in intensive care.
Since it began: Oregon has reported 171,398 confirmed or presumed infections and 2,446 deaths, still among the lowest per capita numbers in the nation. To date, the state has reported 2,316,113 vaccine doses administered, with 1,468,627 people receiving at least one of those doses. Of those, nearly two in three are fully vaccinated.
