JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Dickinson High School teacher was temporarily removed from teaching after he went on a vulgar rant directed towards students during a Zoom class.
According to NBC News, Howard Zlotkin was teaching a high school class when a discussion about climate change divulged into his views on Black Lives Matter and George Floyd — the rant was riddled with expletives aimed at the students.
"I hear people whining and crying about Black Lives Matter, but George Floyd was a f-----g criminal and he got arrested and he got killed because he wouldn't comply and the bottom line is we make him a f-----g hero," Zlotkin says in a recording, according to the outlet.
The parents and students who brought the incident to the district and NBC's attention are Black and felt targeted by Zlotkin's lanugage.
Superintendent Franklin Walker told Patch the incident is under investigation.
"The language was inappropriate and unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the district. It has been referred to our legal counsel for full review and appropriate action. The teacher is currently removed from the class and from contact with any and all students. Counseling has been made available for students in the class."
