The University of Tennessee violated the constitutional rights of a graduate student by threatening to expel her over social media posts that the school objected to as being crude, vulgar, or sexual, a lawsuit alleges.

Kimberly Diei, a student at UT’s Health Science Center College of Pharmacy, says she uses the accounts to express her views on topics of interest to herself and other young Black social media users and doesn’t identify herself as a UT student in posts. The school investigated her personal online accounts twice, she alleges.
