Buffalo, N.Y. — A cop in Western New York has been suspended after calling a woman a vulgar word in a video that went viral.

WBFO reports Buffalo Police Lieutenant Mike DeLong is suspended without pay amid an internal affairs investigation over a video, filmed Sunday in a 7-Eleven parking lot. DeLong was one of 10 officers on the scene to arrest a man in front of the convenience store, located on Prospect Avenue near D’Youville College.

According to WBKW, a bystander filming the incident on her cell phone questioned why so many officers were needed to arrest a man who appeared to be “on drugs. Not in his right mind.”

DeLong told her that the suspect had two crack pipes and was violent, allegedly attacking his mother before they arrived. The woman said she asked DeLong to move back and give her some “personal space,” but he refused.

“Move me,” DeLong said. “You’re a disrespectful little f---ing c---, that’s what you are.”

“You’re going to be viral,” she said.

“I don’t care if I go viral,” he responded.

According to WBFO, DeLong asked the woman where she works and threatened to go to her workplace and film her.

“None of the 9 other cops stopped this man from physically harassing me,” she wrote on Facebook. “I’m so small and not intimidating in the slightest but they acted like was such a threat. Who’s training these people? Why is acceptable for them to degrade me? Armed police officers should be able to effectively do their job with out being threatened by civilians recording them.”

The woman, identified as Ruweyda Ahmed Salim, posted a video of the encounter on Facebook and Twitter. As of Tuesday morning, it’s been viewed more than 230,000 times.

Note: Video contains explicit language not suitable for younger audiences.

Salim later posted a photo from her car, saying DeLong “followed us” and pulled her over “for valid reasons.”

“It’s concerning that he waited to follow us so he could catch us making a mistake to further intimidate us,” she wrote.

Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood said Monday night that DeLong had been suspended. He’s the third Buffalo police officer to be suspended this month, after two cops were seen shoving 77-year-old protester Martin Gugino to the ground in front of City Hall in early June.

WGRZ reports DeLong was previously suspended without pay in 2014 following a domestic incident in Hamburg.

Online records show DeLong made $120,000 in 2018 and more than $96,000 in 2019.

”As soon as Commissioner Lockwood became aware of the incident, he immediately opened an investigation and suspended the officer involved,” Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said in a statement. “I fully support the commissioner’s swift actions. There is no place for that type of reprehensible conduct in the Buffalo Police Department and it will not be tolerated.”
