BENZIE COUNTY, MI – A Northern Michigan man is facing charges after allegedly leaving “vulgar messages,” including accusations of police corruption, with police and government officials, police said.

Ryan Welsh King, 46, of Benzonia, was arrested last week for aggravated stalking and other crimes, according to a news release from Michigan State Police.

In May, the MSP Traverse City Post received a complaint from a local multi-jurisdictional narcotics team about a man who was “excessively contacting the office and leaving vulgar messages and making claims of police corruption,” the release said.

King was identified as the alleged caller. The team commander instructed him to stop contacting the office.

“However, this did not deter him,” the release said.

Detectives documented and saved several alleged voicemails and phone conversations from King. He was also allegedly sending vulgar emails and calling other government entities in Benzie County.

King was arrested on Aug. 31 and lodged in the Benzie County Jail.

He was arraigned in the 85th District Court of Benzie County on charges of aggravated stalking, using a computer to commit a crime, malicious use of telecommunications device, false report of misdemeanor, and habitual offender third. His bond was set at $100,000.

King is due back in court at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25.
