The Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji has condemned the use of vulgar language in Hindi bhajans by bhajan singers or Bhajanias.
This has been highlighted by the Acting National Secretary, Krishneel Krishan Tiwari after some very prominent Bhajan singers used inappropriate words while signing bhajans.
Tiwari says this has brought disrespect and shame to the largest Hindu organization in the country therefore appropriate remedial measures are taken by the Sabha.
He says Sanatan Fiji wishes to advise all Sanatan followers not to engage with such Bhajanias who degrade the value of Sanatan through singing Bhajans.
He adds such bhajanias are also contravening the Fijian law under the minor offenses act [Cap 18], Section 7(2) which states any person who, in any public place, uses threatening or abusive or insulting words or behavior with intent to provoke a breach of peace or whereby a breach of peace may be occasioned, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding fifty dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months.
Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha Fiji in conjunction with Shree Sanatan Dharm Purohit Brahman Maha Sabha Fiji is preparing a paper to present to the Government to have compulsory registration for all bhajans, kirtan and lokgeet artist with the relevant Sanatan branches and a code of conduct be set for them to follow.
He says should it be breached by any bhajania, the full brunt of the law will be inevitable and such people should only hold them responsible.
He urges all the stakeholders to maintain decorum of values and respect the law of the land.
