The Oregon Health Authority on Friday reported 560 new COVID-19 cases and one death, with nearly one in three Oregonians now at least partially vaccinated against the disease.

Cases continued their upward trend, hitting their highest average in two months at 475 a day over the past week. Increasing cases returned Multnomah and Clackamas counties to the high-risk category today, once again limiting restaurants to 25% capacity indoors.

Deschutes, Klamath, Linn and Tillamook also entered the high-risk category, with all six counties representing three-fifths of Oregon’s population.

In 10 days, Oregon will begin offering COVID-19 vaccines to everyone 16 and older, a change made in response to President Joe Biden’s direction Tuesday. Brown originally planned to offer inoculations to everyone 16 and older by July 1, then bumped the date to May 1, and now April 19.

However, state officials said there will not be enough doses for everyone who is eligible, estimating it’ll be almost six weeks after April 19 until there’s enough vaccine in the state so that 70% of people 16 and older will have had a chance to receive a first dose.

The latest numbers show 32.6% of Oregonians have gotten at least one dose, with 20.4% fully vaccinated.

Vaccines: Oregon reported 53,121 newly administered doses, which includes 33,410 on Thursday and the remainder from previous days.

Where the new cases are by county: Baker (3), Benton (3), Clackamas (51), Clatsop (6), Columbia (7), Curry (7), Deschutes (51), Douglas (8), Grant (24), Harney (1), Hood River (1), Jackson (27), Jefferson (6), Josephine (18), Klamath (25), Lake (2), Lane (47), Lincoln (9), Linn (17), Malheur (2), Marion (33), Multnomah (97), Polk (11), Tillamook (3), Umatilla (10), Union (3), Wallowa (1), Wasco (1), Washington (83) and Yamhill (3).

Who died: Oregon’s 2,440th COVID-19 death is a 62-year-old Clatsop County man who tested positive March 25 and died April 5 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. He had underlying conditions.

Hospitalizations: 158 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are hospitalized, down 10 from Thursday. That includes 39 in intensive care, up one from Thursday.

Since it began: Oregon has reported 169,338 confirmed or presumed infections and 2,440 deaths, among the lowest per capita numbers in the nation. To date, the state has reported 2,170,531 vaccine doses administered.
