Bully for him: America needs a president, not a vulgar thug - Yahoo News

With little positive to say in his own defense, particularly on his abysmal record managing the coronavirus, President Trump on Tuesday resorted to what he does best — acting as a bully to assert dominance: Thus, his constant interrupting of former Vice President Joe Biden, insulting his opponent’s intelligence and smearing his family, all while repeatedly ignoring the moderator’s demand that he follow the rules.

So shameful was the display, the Commission on Presidential Debates was forced Wednesday to roll out new rules to ensure some semblance of order in future face offs.

They should’ve had the rules set before the first debate. We saw this coming down Fifth Ave.

In 2016, besides puerile insults on the campaign trail, Trump encouraged physical violence at rallies, urging supporters to “Knock the crap out of [protesters] them....I’ll pay your legal fees.” After Megyn Kelly dared ask tough questions, he said she “had blood coming out of her wherever.”

As president, Trump has graduated to other forms of intimidation. Last year’s impeachment proceedings began due to a shakedown of Ukraine’s president — holding back U.S. military support lest he announce an investigation into Joe Biden and his family.

Despite Jeff Sessions being the first Republican officeholder to endorse him in 2015, Trump turned on him and regularly humiliated him over the attorney general’s correct recusal in the Russia probe.

Trump verbally harassed the UK Prime Minister Theresa May over Brexit (while, of course, being deferential to his authoritarian pals).

In White House press conferences, Trump regularly attacks and demeans reporters (especially women) who challenge him.

America’s mothers and fathers shouldn’t cringe every time the president opens his mouth for fear of the example he’ll set. But that’s who’s in charge until we turn him out.
