Friday night’s football game between Northridge and Central high schools in Tuscaloosa was postponed to Saturday after a Northridge player screamed profanities about its rivals in a vulgar video that went viral.
“We are one school system and one community and what happened today does not reflect the values of the Tuscaloosa City Schools,” said Mike Daria, the district’s superintendent. “We are committed to modeling both good citizenship and good sportsmanship.”
Both schools and district leaders decided to postpone Friday night’s game to 10 a.m. Saturday at Falcoln Field in light of the video.
In the short clip, a Northridge football player uses a megaphone to insult the Falcons, repeatedly saying “f--- Central” and “f--- the dirty birds.”
Warning: The following video contains profanity
“Hey y’all, Central, they live on the shadiest part of town, they have the shadiest school, the shadiest teachers, the shadiest players. My mom went there,” the player says. “They’re b------.”
The player then leads other Northridge students into chants of “f--- Central.”
Tuscaloosa City Schools said it would “take the appropriate actions to ensure a safe learning and playing environment.”
