CLEVELAND, Ohio — ZIP codes in the Medina, North Ridgeville and Painesville have the highest number of cumulative COVID-19 cases in Northeast Ohio, according to Ohio Department of Health numbers updated through the weekend.

ODH does not sort COVID-19 hospitalizations by ZIP code.

Among Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Summit and Trumbull counties, here are the 10 Northeast Ohio ZIP codes with the most total COVID-19 cases (also include for reference on the number of cases per 100 residents):

• 1. 44256 – Medina, 7,560 total cases; a rate of 12 cases per every 100 people
• 2. 44035 – North Ridgeville, 6,578; 10.4 cases per 100 people
• 3. 44077 – Painesville, 6,375; 11.3 cases per 100 people
• 4. 44060 – Mentor and Mentor-on-the-Lake, 6,184; 10.2 cases per 100 people
• 5. 44130 – Middleburg Heights and Parma Heights, 5,527; 11.1 cases per 100 people
• 6. 44107 – Lakewood, 5,424; 10.7 cases per 100 people
• 7. 44212 – Brunswick, 5,420; 12.2 cases per 100 people
• 8. 44102 – Cleveland (Detroit-Shoreway and Edgewater), 4,965; 10.9 cases per 100 people
• 9. 44111 – Cleveland (Kamm’s Corner/ Jefferson), 4,770; 11.1 cases per 100 people

Breakthrough COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths in Ohio

The number of hospitalizations and deaths among not fully vaccinated Ohioans is markedly higher than hospitalizations and deaths among Ohioans who are vaccinated, according to ODH data.

ODH tabulates COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths since Jan. 1, 2021, among those vaccinated and not fully vaccinated. These statistics were last reported on Wednesday, Sept. 29; the dashboard is updated weekly, and are not broken down by county:

• COVID-19 hospitalizations among people not fully vaccinated: 27,701
• COVID-19 hospitalizations among people fully vaccinated: 1.014
• COVID-19 deaths among people not fully vaccinated: 8,178
• COVID-19 deaths among people not fully vaccinated: 146
